Last Wednesday the United Nations declared a famine in two large regions of Somalia; 3.7 million people, nearly half the country’s population, are affected. The crisis is larger than just Somalia. Right now the devastating drought in the region means that more than 11 million people need food aid across Kenya, Somalia and Ethiopia.

Strategic trick-or-treating (Sorry it’s so long, I just enjoyed it..)
Trick-or-treating ain’t no game. No, it’s a life lesson in goal setting, planning, and tactical execution. Kids who master trick-or-treating go on to become successful world leaders. Kids who don’t could possibly do the same but have less chocolate to show for it. The point is that chocolate is delicious, and you should fill your pillowcase with as much as possible. You just have to master the Four Rules of Strategic Trick-or-Treating first:

I guess I will start at the present and go backwards.. To start off, church youth group took part in an awesome block party last night! It was pretty great. Met some very sweet and adorable kiddos. Also, got back from Girl’s State last Saturday. It started off a bit rocky, but got progressively better each day as my “people I know vs people I don’t know” ratio got progressively higher.. Ended up having a BLAST. I am doing well. Haven’t been on tumblr in…. months? strange. But here I am. Other than Girl’s State, my summer has consisted of volleyball, not sleeping in, swimming, hanging out with great friends, watching movies, listening to Switchfoot, and vegging out. Life is good. Stoked for church camp soon.

Let’s see here.. Well, about a week and a half ago, my computer got a virus.. Don’t know how, but it did. So, that explains my lack of existence on tumblr. This lack of existence led me to feel really out of touch and out of the loop.. So.. it is possible I am about to wear out my welcome here and post very frequently until I feel more in balance.
Re-reading that last paragraph I wrote just made me realize technology plays too much a part in my life. Maybe I should just go outside or read or something.
